German Helmet Artwork

This here is a German helmet done for the Vintage Torque Fest put on by my buddy John Wells. I was very honored when John asked me to participate in the event, and since it is for the Helping Hannahs Heart foundation I couldn't say no. It was very diffrent to draw on the German helmet but I had a great time. I took the helmet and started drawing on it with a pencil and things evolved from there. Then used warm grey Copic markers and Sharpies to finish it up. So it is done and it is the Masters of Chicken Scratch German Helmet.

This was an interview put together by Noe V. We had a book signing at Auto Aero Books in Burbank California for The Hot Rod Art Book Masters of Chicken Scratch. Noe asked some great questions to each of us artist. Unfortunately Larry Wood had left by the time he started the interview. The guys featured in the video are James Owens, Dwayne Vance, Steve Stanford, Max Grundy and Mike Miernik. We talk about everything from the auto industry to what got us all into car art. This will be a moment in history when I look back and really enjoyed the time with those guys and how greatful I am that they participated with the book.

Dwayne’s skill as a designer is deeply rooted in his love for automotive art. His Hot Wheels design drawings have been widely published in die cast car magazines and books.
